The Swiss Cheese Plant, scientifically known as Monstera deliciosa, is native to the Central and South American rainforests. It is renowned for its large, heart-shaped, dark green leaves with distinctive splits and holes (which resemble Swiss cheese) once it matures. It also has thick, green stems that grow both vertically and laterally, often needing support (like a moss pole) as it matures. With its iconic leaves and manageable care, the Swiss cheese plant is a fantastic choice for adding a lush, tropical feel to indoor spaces.
Care Instructions:
Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight; too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while low light can slow growth and reduce fenestrations.
Water: Keep soil moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch is dry.
Soil: Use well-draining potting soil, ideally a mix suited for houseplants or tropical plants, is best.
Temperature: Thrives in between 18°C to 27°C (65°F to 80°F). Protect from frost.
Humidity: Prefers high humidity. Mist regularly or use humidifier if the air is dry.
Fertilizer: Used balanced liquid fertilizer monthly in spring and summer.
Pruning: Prune as needed to control size and shape, trimming off any yellowing or damaged leaves.
Please note: Colors and sizes may evolve as our plants continue to grow, adding unique beauty to each one.
